Products We Use
We’ve gone through a bunch of different products that we use running. Some of them are for me, and some are for Arlo. Here’s what we’ve kind of landed on and why we like them.

The Joyride Dog Harness
The Joyride Harness for Dogs is what we’ve been using lately as a harness for Arlo on our runs. Arlo’s shape has made it hard to find a harness that works well. His chest is big and his head and neck are small; this harness gives me full adjustability around the neck. Arlo’s preference would be something that he doesn’t have to slip over his head, but this hasn’t been a huge issue. Once over his head, there is a single buckle that needs connecting.
Ruffwear Flagline Dog Leash
The Ruffwear Flagline Dog Leash is one of the most simple and versitile dog leashes I’ve used. For running I’ve tried various systems that go around my waste and have a bungie aspect to the leash, but I’ve settled on just holding this leash in my hands and it is working really well for us.
I’m a big fan of Ruffwear products to begin with, and this leash works really well. It’s got an adjustable handle and a place to stash a spare poop bag.
Collapsible Silicone Cups
I ususally carry a water bottle when we run, or on a longer trail run I’ve got a running vest on with a water bladder. Keeping Arlo hydrated is important and having one of these silicone collapsible cups makes it easy to share my water with him.
Salomon Adv Skin 12
I’ve been using the Salomon Adv Skin 12 Pack pack for years, and and an older 5 liter model before that. If you want a good running pack, there’s nothing that works better. There is plenty of to stash everything you might need on a longer run. The 1.5 liter bladder holds plenty of water for both me and Arlo.
I’m trying out these heal shoe inserts to help with achilles tendonitis pain.
